About Priyanj Special School

About Us

The school was conceptualized and founded by Mrs. Namrata Chheda in June 1998, in the name of her son 'PRIYANJ', who was born with Down's Syndrome and was diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). The school aims at imparting training and education to children with ASD. The idea behind starting the school is that education should be considered as a basic need of all children, especially those diagnosed with special needs. Keeping this idea in mind, the school was registered under the aegis of ‘The Rays of Hope Charitable Trust '' on 22nd September, 2000.

This school is the first attempt of its kind made to provide individualized education and rehabilitation to children diagnosed with Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Intellectual Disability, ADHD and Learning Difficulties. From its modest beginning in a small flat at Malad with just 6 students and 3 teachers, to its current location at Lokhandwala, Andheri West with 65 students and 22 staff members,  the school has been expanding in terms of size as well as the services it provides every successive year.

Meet the Founder

Mrs. Namrata Chedda plays a significant role in Priyanj Special School with particular concern for children with ASD who are desperately in need of loving care and attention. Having herself had to run from pillar to post in order to provide appropriate intervention services for Priyanj, her son, she realized the need to provide an array of services under one roof for parents desperately seeking quality therapy for their children's needs.

She focusses on offering quality teaching with efficient teachers. Her mission component is that she honestly believes that these children are the children of God and with loving care, affection, commitment and understanding any child regardless of the situation who comes to 'Priyanj Special School' will be treated with dignity as God's child.
